One-of-a-Kind Hand-made Dolls of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, Modeled After Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke. [East Sussex: Charlotte Zeepvat, 1992]. Pair of hand-made and hand-painted sculpted dolls of Holmes and Watson, each made of air-hardening clay over wire armatures padded with sponge. With hand-made clothes and specially designed hair. Each doll approximately 11" tall. Fine. UNIQUE. Housed in the original box, and with letters and other related ephemera. A small pipe is included. These dolls were commissioned by noted Sherlockian collector Robert Hess and have never been displayed. Includes A Collector's Guide – Contemporary Artist's Dolls by Susanna Oroyan and Carol-Lynn Rossel Waugh (an article about Zeepvat is on pp 103-106). In addition to creating beautiful dolls, Zeepvat is a well-known historian and author, writing several books and articles about English and European history.
