[New York: Candlelight Press, 1963]. Durastone statuette with hand-done patina, with engraved signature (“Luques Whitmore") and date (“1963) on the bottom of statuette. Statuette is on a wooden base, with an engraved brass plaque, “For Sherlockian Irving Fenton". Size of statuette with wooden base: approximately 17" high. Some light occasional wear, some tarnishing to plaque. This statuette was engraved for author (and Baker Street Irregular) Irving Fenton, who was invested into BSI with honors in 1957. These rare statuettes were created by Candlelight Press in the 1960s via mail-order. Each statuette was “hand-finished" by the artist. Candlelight Press was a small vanity publisher, founded by August Derleth (1909-1971) in 1963. Most copies of this statuette were damaged at Holmes' feet during shipping - this copy has undamaged feet (there is some scuffing on the pant-leg near the left foot, but this is not the damage that is common to these statues - the feet are generally chipped). From the collection of noted Sherlockiana collector, Robert Hess.
