[PHOTOGRAPHS –MAGICIANS] Collection of Approximately 250 Candid Photographs of European Magicians On Stage. 1930s – 40. Black and white snapshots taken during live performances and capturing the illusions, poses, and manipulative tricks of many stage performers of the pre- and WWII-era in Germany and Europe. Included are images of Vandredi, Olms the watch wizard, Kalanag, Fraskadi, Marion Spadoni, Abdal and Asida, Rolf Hansen, Kimoto, and others. Many photographs show the elaborate apparatus, illusions, and stage settings used by these performers. Most images 4 x 5 ½". Each neatly kept in plain paper boxes with typed title labels denoting the name of the performer represented and frequently the date the images were captured. Generally good condition. An impressive collection.
