THORN, Ernst (1853 – 1928). Group of Thorn Postcards. German, 1910s – 20s. Seven cards, six with divided backs, all advertising the “dreamland" illusion show of Thorn and incorporating similar graphics of the magician asleep in a chair. The largest reproduces a three-sheet poster and bears overprinting for a theatre appearance on the verso. One card with Thorn's embossed gilt “dreamland" paper label affixed, and SIGNED by the magician. A few with old rubber stamps to versos, but all postally unused. Sold together with an ALS from Thorn on his illustrated letterhead, written entirely in his hand, in German.
