KELLAR, Harry (1849–1922). Kellar. The Great Magician. Cincinnati and New York: Strobridge, ca. 1894. One-sheet portrait of Kellar, the model for the wizard in Baum's famous Wizard of Oz stories, with imps perched on his shoulders, one whispering secrets into his ear. 39 ½ x 30". Linen backed. Faded, with abrasions to surface and borders over-colored. This is the first poster to use the now-classic “imps" motif so common with magicians.
