[HOUDINI] Houdini and Hardeen's Bowl Production Table. 1920s. The magician throws a cloth over one arm and a form materializes underneath; the cloth is draped over a low table and a bowl brimming with water is revealed atop the stand. Metal top covered in plush and trimmed in spangles and fringe, all resting on a metal Kellar-style base, with later gold paint. The effect works slightly differently from other versions and requires no special extra cover for the table. Overall height 33 ¼". Together with a letter of provenance from William V. Rauscher, who states that the table base was Houdini's but the gimmicked tabletop was made by Hardeen Jr. Rauscher purchased the table from Hardeen Jr. (Douglas Geoffrey), and tracing the ownership of the table from Houdini to Hardeen, to Geoffrey, to Rauscher, to the consignor.
