Mechanical Card Sword. Hamburg: Bartl, ca. 1920. A selected card is speared on the end of the nickel-plated sword as the pack is thrown in the air. Complex mechanism in hilt with “bomb-door"-like construction for concealing the cards. Length 36". Heavy and attractive, mechanically sound. The handle is further gimmicked to allow the performer to apparently stab an assistant on stage without harm, then retract the sword from the assistant's body.
