The Demon Marksman. Flein: Rüdiger Deutsch, ca. 1999. Spectators select one of several differently-colored ribbons, which is hung from a curved metal stand. Another spectator then marks a lead bullet with a pen knife. This is loaded into a short gun, which is fired at the ribbon. The bullet visibly appears on the ribbon, and is then presented to the audience and the marks are verified to be those made but moments before. Height of stand 19”. With antique pistol, bullets, ribbons, plate, stand, and other accessories. The effect and method were devised by Professor Hoffmann (Angelo John Lewis) and published in his second great work on conjuring, More Magic, in 1890. No contemporary models of the apparatus are known, and this is the only example manufactured by Deutsch.
