Original brown cloth stamped in gilt to front board and spine; front board with a stamped illustration of a bald eagle perched on a wreath. Profusely illustrated. Full page frontispiece with tissue guard. Inscribed and signed with a tipped in lithographed photo of Hale on the ffep: “Charles Wolcott/from Mrs. Hubbard/with the best wishes from Edward E. Hale/March 10, 1902.” 8vo. Extremities sunned at edges; spine browned, foxing to top rear board.
