Bound in near-contemporary half brown calf over marbled boards, spine ruled and tooled in gilt, red gilt morocco lettering label, five raised bands, marbled edges and endleaves (some mild wear, soiling to binding, some foxing in text, folding map quite creased and foxed). Very good. With the armorial bookplates of Thomas Lancaster, Frederick Wm. Nash on the front endleaves, and the bookplate of sporting author Christopher Thomas Dalgety on the verso of the ffep; pencil notes on the verso of the ffep and the facing blank. FIRST EDITION. This account was written by the surgeon and scientist aboard the H. M. S. Investigator, under Captain M'Clure, searching for Sir John Franklin.
