FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY BENCHLEY, with the printing code “044” at p. 311 gutter. It was the basis for the 1975 blockbuster film of the same name directed by Steven Spielberg. Benchley later regretted writing the original book as it encouraged a widespread fear of sharks. He would spend the rest of his life promoting the cause of ocean conservation.
