Captain America Comics #1 (Timely Comics, 1941) CGC Apparent VG/FN 5.0 Mod./Ext. (A-4) Cream to off-white pages. The origin and first appearance of Captain America is one of the ten most valuable comic books (currently #7 on Overstreet’s list of Top 100 Golden Age Comics). Joe Simon and Jack Kirby cover art featuring Captain America punching Hitler, which came just months before the U.S. would enter WWII, at a time when most comics were referring to the Nazi menace in an inexplicit way. Captain America’s most memorable villain, the Red Skull, first appeared in this issue, as did his sidekick Bucky. CGC restoration notes: “color touch, pieces added, tear seals, reinforced”. CGC census 5/23: 9 in restored 5.0, 87 total.
