Gypsy Fortune Teller Battery-Operated Toy. Japan: Ichida, ca. 1950. Witch-like fortune-teller would nod her head, move the crystal ball side to side, light up her eyes, and dispense a fortune card from her outstretched hand. Originally issued as a bank on a tin base, this example has been transplanted to a wooden base with a felt tray on which the fortune would be dispensed. With 20 plastic fortune tiles, some of which are duplicates, and some with miniature playing cards mounted to the opposite side by a former owner. 11 x 6 ½ x 11”. Not working. A rare toy; sold as-is.
