Ellis as “Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers with the rank of Captain”. Signed at bottom by Lincoln, and countersigned by Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton (1814-1869). With blue seal near upper left. Sight approximately 17 1/8 x 12 ½”. Matted and framed under plexiglass. Frame size approximately 27 ¾ x 23”. 1 vertical and 5 horizontal creases visible, a small chip visible at upper right corner, recorder’s ink notation at upper left, right margin neatly trimmed. Fine. Not examined out of frame.
