LOVEJOY, Owen (1811-1864). Autograph Note Signed. Washington, Feb. 11, 1861. One 8vo page on one ruled leaf. Addressed “Mr. Dunklee”. Approximately 6 ¾ x 5”. Embossed stamp at upper left corner. Tape repairs to verso, two horizontal and one vertical creases, some edgewear, a short marginal tear at bottom. Near fine. “Dear Sir, Yours if the 7th instant at hand, and I hereby comply with your request. Respectfully Yours, etc. Owen Lovejoy”. Lovejoy was a lawyer, minister, Congressman, and an abolitionist. He was a conductor on the Underground Railroad, and was also a close friend of Abraham Lincoln.
