MAIER, Vivian (American, 1926–2009). A personal photo album of Maier’s 1959 trip to France and Southeast Asia. 22 original Kodacolor prints shot with a Rolleiflex (image area 3 x 3”, sheet 3 ½ x 3 ½”) printed in 1959 and 1960 with a Kodak imprint on versos, compiled and sequenced by Maier and neatly arranged in a contemporary cloth Badger Squeegee Album No. 503 by the Heinn Specialty Company of Milwaukee (upper hinge broken, light wear to extremities). Images are depicted in Maier’s unique style, capturing intimate views of Asian street life and the daily scenes of the French countryside where Maier’s family owned a farm. These rare unpublished lifetime prints showcase Maier’s artistic gifts of creating visual dialogues in her own poetic fashion. From the collection of Ron Slattery.
