Robert-Houdin Double Mystery Clock. Circa 1845. A “double” or “Series 3” mystery clock designed by Robert-Houdin featuring a glass dial in a gilt bezel with a single hand at its center, the dial supported by a clear glass tube above a gilt wooden and brass base. The clock keeps time and the hand moves despite no apparent connection to the mechanism concealed in the base. Roman hour markers with five division bits further subdivided into three units. Floral supports join the column to the dial concealing the driving gears, and four griffin heads support the base of the clear tube. Inscribed “Robert-Houdin Paris.” 19 x 5” on a gilt base 6 ½ x 6 ½”. With key. Detailed condition report available on request. Third party shipping required.
