Wilson, S. Clay. Gems and Junk. “Frank N. Stein”, 1985. Original ink on paper with numerous white-out corrections and enhancements. 11 panels, a complete story on five layout pages. Sight of each page approximately 9 x 6 ¼”; total sight approximately 9 x 32 ½”. Panels vary in size, ranging from approximately 3 ¾ x 5” to 3 ½ x 2 ½”. Framed under glass. Frame size 9 ¾ x 33”. Layout pages toned, soiled, with faint editorial markings. Fine. This complete story, published in Jump Start #2 (1987), features a strung-out junkie, “Itchy” Fenan, and his nearly-dead friend, R. Z., who rob and kill a jewel dealer, fence the gems, buy heroin, and overdose. An excellent comic with Wilson’s distinctive underground sensibilities. Not examined out of frame.
