Gleason on fp. ownership signature on ffep., signature of the Vice President of the American Historical Society, William Seaton, on the title-page of the first tract, Transactions of the American Historical Society… Vol. I (Washington: Jacob Gideon, 1839; some markings on verso of this title-page). The other tracts in this collection are all printed (or re-printed) by Peter Force: A Discourse Pronounced at the Capitol of the United States, in the Hall of Representatives, Before the American Historical Society at Their Second Annual Meeting (1837); Tracts and Other Papers, Relating Principally in the Origin, Settlement, and Progress of the Colonies in North America… (1836, with 13 tracts collected/reprinted by Peter Force). Peter Force was a politician, archivist, historian, newspaper editor, and printer. He had amassed a huge collection of books, maps and other material related to the American Revolution. He was one of the founders of the American Historical Society. He published a famous facsimile of The Declaration of Independence based on the 1823 plate of W. J. Stone, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Declaration.
