[CHARLES II, KING OF ENGLAND (1630-1685)]. His Majestie’s Declaration To all His Loving Subjects of His Kingdom of England and Dominion of Wales Concerning Ecclesiastical Affairs. London: John Bill and Christopher Barker, 1660. 4to. 20 pp. Approximately 280 x 171 mm. Bound in near contemporary marbled boards with later endleaves (spine perished, boards worn, chipped, text toned, creased, thumbsoiled). With the bookplate of author George Tracy Buckingham on front pastedown. Good. In this rare declaration, the king proposes that some Presbyterian ministers become bishops in order to smooth over internal divisions in the church; this plan was later abandoned.
