A wonderful tribute to Hopalong Cassidy, the fictional cowboy hero who enthralled millions of children, played to perfection by William Boyd (1895-1972) in film and television. The co-author, Grace Bradley Boyd, was his widow. The character of Hopalong Cassidy, as originally conceived by author Clarence E. Mulford, was a hard-drinking, rude, rough-talking guy; he was considerably cleaned up for his film and television audiences.
